Miksa Bielek, followed by Emil Schimanek delivered lectures about heat engines for 30 years from 1904. Zoltan Komody managed the Department of Steam Engines and Refrigerators from 1946. L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Heller established the Department of Energy Management in 1951 and Andr\u00e1s L\u00e9vai established the Department of Heat Engines in 1953. In 1978 they were united into the Institute of Thermal Energy and Systems Engineering, headed by Director Imre Szab\u00f3. The Department of Heat Engines was founded in 1960 and was directed by Dezs\u0151 Brodszky until 1972. It was directed by G\u00e1bor Bassa until 1989 and later by Antal Penninger. The Department of Energy Engineering was established in 1992 directed by Gergely B\u00fcki and L\u00e1szl\u00f3 R\u00e1donyi from 1996. The Department of System and Control Engineering was established and directed by Imre Szab\u00f3 and later by Albin Zsebik. The Department of Energy Engineering in its present form was established in 2002. It was directed by Antal Penninger until 2008 from whom this position is taken by Gyula Gr\u00f3f until 2019.
